We’ve got magic to do, just for you! This Tony-Award winning musical tells the story of Pippin, a young prince hunting for significance and meaning in life, through a mystical troupe of performers; led by the enigmatic Leading Player. In most productions of Pippin, the ‘fourth wall’ is frequently broken; making the story even more personable.
Featuring an exceptional score from the incredible Stephen Schwartz, who holds three Oscar wins and four Tonys, Pippin is the tale of one young man’s journey to be extraordinary. As a winner of four 2013 Tony Awards, including Best Musical Revival, Pippin continues to charm and appeal to the young at heart everywhere.
*Young prince Pippin is the heir to the Frankish throne, and in pursuit of the secret to true satisfaction and happiness. He looks for it in the temptations of flesh, the grandeur of fighting in war, the temptations of the flesh and the power of holding office- after disposing of King Charlemagne the Great, his father. Eventually, Pippin finds that happiness can be found not in extraordinary endeavors, but rather in the ordinary, everyday moments.
Pippin works wonderfully as either an intimate black box show or a flashy, spectacledriven production. The show’s message is universal, and will touch the hearts of audiences of all ages.
RTOP’s production of Pippin is directed by local favorite Michael Todd serves as music director. Choreography and musical staging by John Rich.
