Two late Moscow water colorists, Nick Bode and Kay Montgomery, donated 19 watercolors of nudes to Sojourners’ Alliance. Other work is being donated to Moscow Contemporary.

Kay Montgomery was born outside of Meridian Idaho and raised on a ranch in Southwest Idaho. One of the founding members of the Palouse Watercolor Socius, Kay was also a merit member of the Idaho Watercolor Society, and a member the Northwest Watercolor Society. Kay was community minded and a staunch supporter of the arts and the environment.  She ultimately placed a portion of the family farm in a conservation easement with the Palouse Land Trust, to protect in perpetuity a piece of the beautiful Palouse.

Nick Bode was born in 1950 in Rhinelander, Wisconsin and in 1960 moved with his family to Moscow, Idaho. He began painting watercolor while in high school and studied art with Alf Dun at the University of Idaho. After retiring in 2002, Nick returned to watercolor in 2003. He was a prominent member of the Palouse Watercolor Socius and a member of the Idaho Watercolor Society. He died in June 2016.
