The Palouse-Clearwater Environmental Institute (PCEI), established in 1986, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to environmental education, restoration, and conservation in the Palouse-Clearwater region. Their mission is to increase citizen involvement in decisions affecting the region’s environment, promoting sustainable living, experiential learning, and community service.
PCEI operates the Palouse Nature Center, a 26.2-acre site in Moscow, Idaho, open daily from dawn to dusk. The center features educational exhibits, walking trails, and a variety of native plants.
Additionally, they manage the Rose Creek Nature Preserve near Pullman, Washington, offering visitors opportunities to explore and learn about local ecosystems. PCEI also engages in restoration projects, including riparian and wetland restoration, Palouse Prairie rehabilitation, and watershed planning. They operate the John Crock Learning Nursery, growing native plants for public sale to support these efforts.
