The Latah County Historical Society is happy to announce that we have received a grant from the Idaho Humanities Council to support our Queer History Project in the spring and summer of 2023. Recently, the organization assessed its collection gaps and noticed the absence of materials related to the LGBTQ+ community. The goal of the project is to obtain and preserve objects, photos, and documents related to the queer history of Latah County. That effort involves soliciting materials from residents, conducting oral history interviews, attending events for field collection. These funds will assist in purchasing the required storage and preservation materials for items collected. Another portion of this funding assists with two free, upcoming public programs. Details of the programs are forthcoming. History includes everyone and we are committed to making that a reality by representing ALL communities of Latah County and diversifying our collection for future generations. If you or someone you know might be willing to donate materials to our collection or would be willing to give an oral history interview, please call 208-882-1004 or email lchslibrary@latahcountyid.gov.
