Area non-profit aiming to help students and their parents build a path for affordable and attainable higher education

April 30, 2022 | Moscow, ID — Understanding how to apply to – and pay for – a higher education institution can be a challenging and confusing process for students and parents. To help, local non-profit Palouse Pathways will host two events designed to demystify the process of identifying affordable colleges and universities while also opening doors to selective schools.

Both events will take place in Moscow and are free and open to the public. Learn more about each event below:

Event 1: Select College Workshop

·        Sunday, May 15, 2:00pm – 4:00pm

·        1912 Center 412 East Third Street, Moscow, Idaho

·        Event URL: https://www.palousepathways.org/events/selective-college-workshop-1912

The Select Colleges Workshop hosts a variety of representatives from selective colleges and universities from across the country. These representatives provide an inside look at the selective college admission process while showcasing other institutions that local students may not be aware of. This can be helpful for students who are interested in selective colleges that don’t want to be limited to the more recognized universities that receive huge amounts of applications each year. Community members who are alumni of selective institutions also attend, providing personal reflections on their experiences and tips for students looking to attend these colleges and universities.

Event 2: Finding Affordable Colleges

·        Tuesday, May 17, 7:00pm – 8:00pm

·        1912 Center 412 East Third Street, Moscow Idaho

·        Event URL: https://www.palousepathways.org/events/affordable1912

While paying for college can be a challenge, there are many institutions with low tuition rates and quality financial aid offerings. Sometimes, “expensive” private schools can actually cost less for your family than an in-state school! Some colleges and universities even offer 100% coverage for financial need, providing a surprisingly attainable option for many students. Attendees will learn different strategies to target their college search and tips for getting the best education at an affordable price.

Both events are offered to help both students and parents better understand options for higher education from a local perspective. Anyone interested in attending can learn more by visiting the event URLs listed above.
