TROY, Idaho— The Latah Farmers Market is delighted to launch its fourth season in the Troy City Park on Saturday, June 1st, 2024 from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM with an outstanding lineup of Latah County vendors selling locally-grown produce, plant starts, meat, eggs, dairy, poultry, beverages, jewelry, décor, gifts and more. The market will take place rain or shine every Saturday through October. The Latah Farmers Market welcomes everyone, is ADA accessible, pet and family friendly, and has convenient parking with easy access.

Now in its fourth season as an independently organized and operated local market, The Latah Farmers Market has become known in the community as the “friendly farmers market,” as its visitors are consistently welcomed with smiling faces, fresh food, local produce and live entertainment. Since all of the vendors in attendance are from Latah County and the surrounding community, every dollar spent at the Latah Farmers Market directly benefits the local economy.

The Latah Farmers Market is still accepting new vendor applications, and will continue to do so all season long. It offers flexible commitment levels in addition to its low booth fees to accommodate the needs of small farms, youth entrepreneurs, and seasonal producers. Anyone interested in becoming a vendor is invited to attend the vendor orientation meeting on Wednesday, May 15th, 2024 at the Troy Park Gazebo from 6:00 to 8:00 PM to learn more about what makes the Latah Farmers Market a great place to set up shop.

The Latah Farmers Market was established in 2021 by Latah County producers to ensure access to locally-grown food and resources that directly serve the community, in an effort to boost the local economy and lessen dependence on foreign supply chains. Since that time, the Latah Farmers Market

has helped more than 150 area small businesses bring their products to market. It continues to be one of the only privately-run farmers markets in the region, and is organized and operated entirely by volunteer producers. The Latah Farmers Market is wholly self-supporting and receives no public funds or grant money.

The Latah Farmers Market takes place each Saturday from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM in the beautiful Troy City Park right off Highway 8 in Troy, ID. The season starts June 1, 2024 and ends October 5, 2024.

Additional information about the Latah Farmers Market is available on the website www.latahfarmersmarket.com.

The Moscow Arts Commission and the City of Moscow invite artwork submissions for the upcoming juried exhibition, re: present, at the Third Street Gallery. The submission deadline is 5 p.m. on Friday, May 31, 2024.

The act of making a representational artwork calls for the artist to be present, to be fully immersed in the subject matter. The surface of a representational artwork may depict what something looks like, but it functions more deeply as an artifact of communion between the artist and the subject. This connection is the focus of re: present at the Third Street Gallery, featuring paintings made with high regard for presence in the moment, presence with the observed, and presence with the artist as observer.  Artworks in this exhibition may explore the entire spectrum of representational approaches to painting. This juried exhibition is open to artists across the nation, and will be adjudicated by artist and University of Idaho arts educator, Val Carter.

Submissions accepted online until Friday, May 31, 2024 at: https://moscowarts.submittable.com/submitMore information about the Third Street Gallery is available on the City of Moscow website: https://www.ci.moscow.id.us/230/Third-Street-Gallery Support for City of Moscow Arts Department programming comes from the Idaho Commission on the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts.

The Third Street Gallery is a space for art in the heart of downtown Moscow. City of Moscow Arts Staff and members of the Moscow Arts Commission have worked together to create artistic direction for the Third Street Gallery since the gallery’s opening in September 1997. The gallery features artworks in a wide range of media, subject matter, and content while presenting a curatorial vision open to all cultures and art forms. The Third Street Gallery exhibits the work of established and emerging makers from the Palouse and the broader Inland Northwest, celebrating the creative excellence of the region in a well-loved public space.  The Third Street Gallery features artwork on the second and third floors inside Moscow City Hall. The building was designed by architect James Knox Taylor in 1911, and was formerly the Moscow Federal Building. Entered in the National Register of Historic Places in 1973 as a Second Renaissance Revival brick building, the structure now houses City offices and meeting spaces such as the City Council Chambers. The Third Street Gallery is an essential part of this building, as it brings art into the center of civic life in the City of Moscow. Third Street Gallery is located inside Moscow City Hall at 206 E. Third St. Moscow, ID. Gallery hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding federal holidays.

The U.S. Secret Service (USSS) formally recognized Moscow Police Department’s (MPD) Detective Lawrence Mowery for achievement in the field of digital forensics and cyber-crime investigation this past Monday, April 1st, 2024, during the regular City Council meeting. Det. Mowery was honored in person by USSS Spokane Office’s Resident Agent in Charge, Greg Ligouri, and Network Intrusion Forensic Analyst Neil J. Uhrig.

“The Moscow Police Department has long been a partner with the US Secret Service and they have made cyber-crime and digital forensics a priority,” said Mr. Uhrig. “In 2022, Moscow Police Detective Lawrence Mowery entered the National Computer Forensics Institute (NCFI) training program by attending our five-week in-residence basic school in Hoover, Alabama. Since then, he has continued to attend more training and has become a subject matter expert in the region on all things cyber. In 2023, Det. TriState Health Foundation receives a $5,000 donation
from Clearwater Paper to support the Trauma Prevention Program’s Stop the Bleed Kits. The Trauma
Injury Prevention Program is currently facilitating a Stop the Bleed School Project throughout Asotin
County. Stop the Bleed’s primary purpose is to educate, empower, and equip bystanders to act during a
bleeding emergency prior to the arrival of first responders.

Dedicated staff in the Emergency department lead TriState Health’s Trauma Injury Prevention Program
(TIPP). Each year, the TIPP team focuses on community education to help reduce trauma-related injuries
that can cause disability or death. The program provides information on ways to reduce injuries and
assists individuals and families experiencing financial hardship, giving them the tools they need to lower
their risk of injuries.

“All of us at Clearwater Paper are pleased be part of this important program,” said Matt VanVleet,
Government & Community Affairs Director at Clearwater Paper. “Being able to help fund these critical
blood/trauma kits makes so much sense to us because it is directly tangible to protecting health and
lives in our community.”
