The Moscow Rebel Tigers is the local Special Olympics team which operates under the umbrella of Special Olympics Idaho. Special Olympics Idaho is a non-profit organization that provides training and athletic competition in 15 Olympic-type sports, year-round and free of charge to over 2,500 children and adults with intellectual disabilities throughout the state of Idaho. The local Moscow team serves athletes in Latah County and surrounding areas.
Special Olympics programs, with thousands of volunteers, offer athletes continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skill, and friendship with their families, other athletes and the community. Funding comes from the generous donations of individuals, businesses, and corporations, as well as private grants and foundations. Through public awareness and volunteer recruitment, we hope to reach and serve potential athletes who are waiting for their opportunity to participate. The local Moscow Special Olympics program participates in sports year round and has over 40 registered athletes ranging in ages from 9 to 60+. It is a great way to stay active and enjoy social interaction with community members throughout the year.
