Disability Action Center – Northwest, Inc. is looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Youth Advocate to join our Pathways Project. This role focuses on engaging and supporting young individuals with disabilities, helping them build self-confidence, develop life skills, and successfully transition to employment and greater independence.dac@dacnw.org
What You’ll Do:
• Connect and Inspire: Engage with young people in group settings and one-on-one to foster a sense of community, build relationships, and empower them to take charge of their own lives.
• Be a Guide: Assist youth in exploring opportunities for peer connections, skills development, and employment pathways. Help them navigate barriers and find solutions that work for them.
• Empower Through Information: Provide valuable resources and referrals related to youth services, independent living, and disability rights. Be the go-to person for answers and support.
• Collaborate and Advocate: Work as part of a team in the Pathways Project, representing Disability Action Center – Northwest, Inc. at meetings and events, and advocating for the needs and rights of young people.
• Promote Independence: Champion the principles of independent living and consumer control, encouraging youth to take an active role in their own decision-making and future planning.
• Engage the Community: Participate in outreach activities, including speaking engagements and workshops, to raise awareness about independent living and support services for youth with disabilities.
• Track and Reflect: Keep accurate records of activities and progress to ensure our programs are effective and impactful.

Qualifications:
• No specific education requirements – your passion, empathy, and communication skills are what matter most.
• Experience working with youth, especially those with disabilities, is a plus.
• Willingness to learn and grow with us. Training and support will be provided.
Qualified person with a disability is preferred.
