Moscow, ID – United Way of Moscow/Latah County has expanded its School Lunch Debt Forgiveness Program in Latah County. United Way of Moscow/Latah County has committed to retire accrued lunch debt at the Moscow School District, Palouse Prairie Charter School, Moscow Charter School, Genesee School District, Potlatch School District, and Whitepine Joint School District through a grant program targeted at student lunch debt. Hunger significantly impacts students’ ability to learn and thrive, making lunch essential to students receiving a quality education. Retiring debt is beneficial to families and schools, no family should be put into debt or potentially sent to collections to feed their children and schools don’t have the budget to cover debt.

United Way of Moscow/Latah County strives to support the health, education and financial stability of all those in our community. In Latah County roughly 39% of households are classified as ALICE or below. ALICE, Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed, are those just above the poverty line, who are vulnerable to one unexpected life event sending them into crisis.
