Moscow, Idaho (May 15, 2026) — Palouse Habitat for Humanity invites the community to join them in celebrating a home dedication for Samantha and Ramon and their four children on Thursday, May 28 at 5:30 PM at 602 Harvest Loop in Palouse, WA.

Construction on their home began in 2024 as part of Palouse Habitat’s commitment to expanding access to affordable housing in the region. While the home was originally planned for another partner family, unforeseen circumstances led that family to withdraw their application and relocate out of the Palouse.

“By what truly felt like a miracle, we had another family in our application pool whose household size and needs were a match for this home,” said Executive Director Jennifer Wallace.

Samantha and Ramon have lived on the Palouse for the past three years and are raising what they describe as a “Brady Bunch” family. In their previous housing, daily life was becoming increasingly difficult. Particularly when caring for their daughter, who was born with arthrogryposis, a condition that affects joint mobility and requires the use of a wheelchair and supportive equipment.

To ensure the home fully meets the family’s needs, Palouse Habitat partnered with volunteers and contractors to implement key accessibility upgrades, including the installation of an ADA-compliant bathroom. These modifications enable the Martinez family’s daughter to move safely and comfortably throughout the home while supporting the family’s long-term stability.

Funds to build Habitat homes are raised through fundraisers, grants, sales from the ReStore, and donations of materials and labor. PHfH spends these funds locally, purchasing building materials and hiring local subcontractors. We thank the following vendors and individuals for their donations to help keep the Martinez family home affordable: Andersen Corp, Inc., Whirlpool Corp, Strom Electric, Moscow Building Supply, Darryll Sherman of Palouse Residential Designs, Pro Interior Finishers, Wells Fargo, US Bank, Drollette Construction, Steven Vanhorn Drywall, Pettitt Roofing, Powell Plumbing, Hemphill Heating & Electric, Superior Floors, Metrie, Alliance Door Products, the Avista Foundation and Early Bird Supply.

Volunteer to help build the next Habitat homes! Tools, supervision, and training are provided. We’re building three days a week, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday in Palouse and Uniontown. Sign up online at https://palousehabitat.org.
