March 5, 2025 (Moscow, Idaho) — The Moscow Police Department is proud to announce the awarding of the Life Saving Award to Officer Lanie and Officer Sneve for their swift and decisive actions in saving the life of a local resident.
On Thursday, February 6, at approximately 1:00 PM, officers responded to a report of an unconscious male near the intersection of 6th and Logan Streets. Upon arrival, Officer Lanie immediately initiated chest compressions. Officer Sneve arrived shortly thereafter and prepared the patient for the application of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) by cutting away the patient’s shirt. Officer Sneve then assumed responsibility for providing ventilations using a bag valve mask.
Moscow Volunteer Fire & Ambulance paramedics arrived on scene and continued life-saving efforts, including the deployment of the AED. The patient regained a pulse and was stabilized for transport to a local hospital.
Paramedics subsequently confirmed that the officers’ rapid response and immediate intervention were instrumental in saving the man’s life. The Moscow Police Department has since received confirmation from the patient’s family that he is recovering from the cardiac event and expresses immense gratitude to the officers involved.
In addition to Officer Lanie and Officer Sneve, the department recognizes the contributions of Officer Fuchs and Sergeant Thueson, who provided valuable assistance at the scene.
“The officers’ quick and effective response to this critical incident exemplifies the dedication and professionalism of the Moscow Police Department,” stated Chief of Police, Anthony Dahlinger. “Their actions are a testament to their commitment to serving and protecting the Moscow community, and I’m very proud of them.”
The Moscow Police Department and City of Moscow extend sincere congratulations and gratitude to all officers involved for their exemplary service and life-saving efforts.
