Two Paths–Gail Siegel and John Larkin

On view from January 14 to February 21, 2026 Two Paths features the work of two longtime Palouse residents, Gail Siegel and John Larkin. The artists will be present at a public reception on January 23, 6–8 p.m. Maybe better known for their former “day jobs,” Gail and John have always been artists. Each found renewed energy during the pandemic that fueled considerable bodies of work. This exhibit highlights finding new inspirations and meaning through artmaking in times of change.

Gail Siegel is a native of Detroit, Michigan. She completed a BFA at the University of Michigan and an MFA in painting and drawing from the University of Idaho. She served as the director of the former University of Idaho Prichard Art Gallery and then as the director of the Visual, Performing and Literary Arts Committee and WSU Performing Art at Washington State University. Gail and her husband Lonnie Hutson were the founding owners of Sundog Expeditions, outfitting guided river rafting trips in Idaho, Oregon and Alaska for over twenty years. She currently lives and works as an artist at her rural home and studio near Deary, Idaho.

John Larkin worked for decades as an industrial designer after receiving his BFA from the University of Idaho. He started Machine Language in 1984, originally to design, build, and market contemporary furniture. That eventually led to several years of designing and building custom furniture for Nike in their Niketowns around the world, and has since developed into an industrial design studio specializing in bicycle helmets and related products.
