Good City Wood Shop, located in Moscow, Idaho, is a hands-on educational hub dedicated to high-quality instruction in traditional crafts. Founded by Chris Proctor, the school offers workshops led by skilled artisans in woodworking, metalwork, textiles, ceramics, glasswork, and homesteading practices. With a mission to make expert craft education accessible in the Inland Northwest, Good City Wood Shop serves students from Idaho, Washington, Oregon, Montana, and beyond.
โShortly after taking my first college woodworking class, I decided that I wanted to spend the rest of my life making things out of wood,โ says Director Chris Proctor. โI found tons of incredible craft schools on the East and West Coastsโฆ and none where I lived in the Mountain West. Now, Iโm on a mission to bring top quality craft education to the people of the greater Inland Northwestโand anyone else who finds our Moscow, Idaho location more accessible than other parts of the country.โ
In addition to its seasonal workshops, the school fosters a thriving community through volunteer opportunities and creative outreach like the Teach With Your Hands podcast, which explores the art of teaching crafts. Set in Moscowโs vibrant arts scene, Good City Wood Shop plays a key role in nurturing creativity, sustainability, and lifelong learning in the region.
