Position Summary
Moscow Charter School is seeking a dedicated, student-centered Full-Time Special Education Teacher to serve our K–8 students. This individual will provide specialized instruction and support to students with identified disabilities, ensuring access to a high-quality, inclusive educational experience. The successful candidate will be well-versed in special education law, Individualized Education Program (IEP) development, compliance monitoring, and Medicaid documentation for eligible services.
Key Responsibilities
· Instructional Support:
· Provide direct and/or consultative special education services to students based on IEP goals.
· Modify curriculum and differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs.
· Collaborate with general education teachers to support inclusive practices.
· IEP Development and Compliance:
· Write, revise, and implement IEPs in compliance with state and federal regulations.
· Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation of services and outcomes.
· Lead and participate in IEP meetings, ensuring parent and team collaboration.
· Case Management:
· Serve as the primary case manager for assigned students, ensuring timelines are met and services are delivered.
· Maintain accurate and up-to-date special education records in accordance with district and legal requirements.
· Medicaid/School-Based Billing:
· Document and manage Medicaid-eligible services in alignment with state billing requirements.
· Work closely with administrative staff to ensure accurate and timely Medicaid reporting.
· Collaboration and Communication:
· Communicate regularly with families, staff, and related service providers to support student success.
· Participate in team meetings, professional development, and problem-solving teams.
Qualifications
· Required:
· Valid State of Idaho teaching certification with a Special Education endorsement
· Experience writing and implementing IEPs
· Strong knowledge of IDEA, Section 504, and state-specific special education regulations
· Experience working with K–8 students in both inclusive and pull-out settings
· Familiarity with Medicaid documentation requirements for school-based services
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Ability to work collaboratively and independently
· Preferred:
· Experience with IEP management software (e.g., EDPlan, PowerSchool, etc.)
· Understanding of RTI
· Experience in a charter or small-school setting
· Ability to obtain a Gifted and Talented Certification or additional certifications as needed.
