Telescope Opening & Star Party

Join the University of Idaho College of Science and Department of Physics in celebrating our new telescope on Sept. 9 and 10!
The Vandal Trolley will run from 7-10 p.m. Friday and Saturday from the bus shelter in front of Wallace Residence Center at 1080 W 6th Street.
Parking is available across the street in lots 17, 19, and 56
No parking is available on site!
Participants are advised to wear sturdy shoes and to bring lawn chairs and water if needed. Facilities are available. Cloudy skies will cancel that night’s event.
Physics faculty and students will be on hand to demonstrate the new telescope and point out planets and other items of interest in the sky.
The new telescope is a 20-inch (0.5 meter) Imaging Dall Kirkham (iDK) reflector. It is one of the largest telescopes in Idaho and will be used for both teaching and research purposes. The University of Idaho offers bachelor’s, M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in physics. To learn more about the program, visit uidaho.edu/sci/physics.
